' SummitVine - Vines & Wines
We had dreamed of living and working in wine country, with all that this life entails. The opportunity arose when, in 1998, we found ourselves buying a parcel of land high above the Napa Valley floor.  Initially, our goals were quite modest, but they quickly took on a life of their own, and SummitVine Ranch has since grown into a successful farming operation with two distinctive hillside vineyards: Cori's Vineyard and Sophie's Vineyard, both named after two very special dogs that have their paw prints deep in the soil of SVR. In addition to attending UC Davis viticulture classes and being deeply involved and active in the day-to-day farming operations, Michael consults with top professionals on best practices for producing the finest fruit possible.  SummitVine fruit has been the source for highly acclaimed single vineyard wines since the first harvest in 2004 and continues today, with most of our fruit going to a local winery for their Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. We take great care in monitoring operations in the vineyard and in making sure that the needs of the individual vines and varietals are addressed. This hands-on approach results in fruit that not only maximizes what the land has to offer but also yields the unique characteristics that make an exceptional wine.  We find that our ongoing dedication to producing exceptional grapes consistently produces an exceptional Diamond Mountain wine.

Over an early summer dinner in 2013, in the company of good friends and Winemaker Brett Adams, Susan and I agreed to pursue making a limited production, single-vineyard wine from select blocks of our estate, SummitVine Ranch.

With the 2013 harvest, we focused on the flagship wine that Diamond Mountain is best known for, Cabernet Sauvignon.  Since then, we have expanded production to include a second wine sourced from the Bordeaux varietals in Sophie’s vineyard – thus creating a Bordeaux style Red Wine Blend.  We currently have our 2015 and 2016 wines in barrels and look forward to sharing the 2014 vintage with you in early 2017.

Our focus remains the same for every wine we craft: selecting the best fruit from our vineyards and drawing out the unique characteristics of the extraordinary SummitVine grapes . Because of the limited production of these Estate Vineyard designated wines, we feel this is a rare opportunity to experience SummitVine.
